Hi, I want to take this opportunity to introduce myself,  I’m Samantha from Jennifer Michaels Hair Studio in Barrington, Il.  You’ve probably met me by now, as  I’ve been Shay’s associate for 7 months. I just wanted to let everyone know that I am going to be on the floor at the end of September!  I have been a licensed cosmetologist since August 2007, I graduated from Tricoci University in Glendale Heights, IL.  I have been working exclusively with Shay, who has been at Jennifer Michaels Hair Studio in Barrington, IL for over 7 years. For the past year I have been following a very in-depth training program through our consulting group, KRS.   I have worked on many live models, as well as Shay’s clients, and have had a lot of hands on experience.  I have recently started working Jennifer Michaels “New Talent  Mondays” where the salon offers half price services with stylists that are just coming on the floor from extensive training.

This August, Christine attended the SoCap Extension Certification class.  The instructor was Michael Baker, the Director of Education at SoCap, and an extensionist for 14 years! 

The class was extremely hands on, with only about 6 people, so she got a lot of one on one coaching.  Christine learned how to properly apply each extension to the hair, placement of extensions on the head, and how to cut and blend the extensions with the actual hair. 

The class also covered the different colors of the extensions, including blends and tipped pieces, and how to match the hair to the client’s hair. 

Christine is now certified in SoCap extensions and will be taking guests at Jennifer Michaels for a reduced rate!

Laura Chavich From Jennifer Michaels Attends Vidal Sassoon Class!

My first class with Vidal Sassoon was a wonderful experience. From the lectures to the hands on course the information was some of the most useful I have ever gotten in a class. Using head sheets and videos helped the lecture appeal to everyone in class and having models available to cut and style was a pleasant surprise. The class was kept small so we all received the individual attention needed. I learned new techniques for 5 haircuts including; the bob, graduated bob, short layered, long layered and square length.  I also learned new texturizing, fringe, and face framing techniques using my shears.  Vidal concentrates on shapes, lines, and angles setting the standards high for our industry and I am so grateful I was able to learn from the best.
